HOUSTON, Texas – June 6, 2025 – Emanuel Moreno (11-0, 3 KOs) emerged victorious in a high-stakes battle of the unbeatens, earning a unanimous decision (78-74, 77-75, 77-75) over Khalid Twaiti (14-1, 5 KOs) in the eight-round bantamweight main event of BOXFEST XV on Friday night, live on DAZN from The Owl’s Nest in Houston.
In a clash that tested speed, composure, and grit, Moreno showcased his well-rounded skill set, staying poised under pressure and consistently countering Twaiti's aggression. While Twaiti tried to impose his pace and land the cleaner power shots, it was Moreno’s ring generalship and body work that earned the nod from all three judges, handing Twaiti the first loss of his professional career.
“It was a tough fight,” Moreno said after the win. “He came to fight, but I stuck to my plan, listened to my corner, and stayed smart. I knew I had to be sharp every second.”
The co-feature of the evening saw rising super lightweight Antonio Perez (11-0, 5 KOs) remain undefeated with a strong unanimous decision win over veteran Alex Martin (18-8, 6 KOs) in an eight-round contest. The 23-year-old Perez controlled much of the fight with a sharp jab and timely counters, frustrating Martin with slick movement and superior output.
In one of the most evenly matched bouts of the night, Angel Perez (9-0-1, 7 KOs) and Axl Melendez (7-1-1, 4 KOs) battled to a majority draw in a back-and-forth six-round welterweight war. Both fighters had their moments, with Melendez landing thudding hooks early and Perez rallying late behind combinations to the body and head. With scorecards reading 58-56 Perez, 57-57, 57-57, both men left the ring with their undefeated records intact—and fans clamoring for a rematch.
