LOS ANGELES, CA – Red Owl Boxing’s acclaimed BOXFEST series makes its California debut with BOXFEST XVI, live on Friday, October 10 from the Commerce Casino & Hotel in Los Angeles. The event will stream live and exclusively on DAZN to over 200 territories and regions worldwide, with the main card beginning at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.
The main event will feature Deonte Brown (16-0, 11 KOs) taking on Grimardi Muchuca (12-1, 9 KOs) for the vacant WBA Continental Americas Super Featherweight Title. Brown, an undefeated lightweight standout, looks to capture his first regional championship, while the heavy-handed Machuca enters seeking to derail his rise and claim the belt for himself.
In the co-main event, Saul “The Beast” Sanchez (20-3, 12 KOs) returns to the ring in a pivotal bantamweight showdown against rugged veteran Edwin Rodriguez (12-7, 6 KOs). Sanchez, a Los Angeles native, will look to rebound and reignite his run toward world contention in front of a hometown crowd.
Also featured on the main card, 2016 U.S. Olympian Rashida Ellis makes her highly anticipated professional debut against Mexico’s Maria Salinas (3-2, 1 KO) in a four-round lightweight contest. Ellis, who represented the United States on the world stage, now turns her attention to the pro ranks where she looks to make an immediate impact.
The undercard is loaded with top emerging talent, including Cornellio Phipps, Criztec Bazaldua, Angel Perez, and Samvel Gandilyan, alongside international prospects such as Narek Hovhannisyan and Alejandro Alvarado, all of whom aim to use the BOXFEST platform to propel their careers forward.
BOXFEST XVI represents everything the series was created for—competitive fights, real stakes, and opportunities for the next generation of boxing stars. From Brown vs. Muchuca for a WBA title to Sanchez's return and Ellis making her professional debut, the card has every ingredient for an unforgettable night.
